Abstract

A growing recognition that criminology has a Western-centric bias. Marginalization and hegemony over non-Western criminology. Neglect concerns and knowledge of crime and justice in the non-west. Overlook alternative accounts that inform criminological scholarship. Western theories and policies are very often inappropriate in non-Western contexts. Insufficient studies on non-western contexts have been a major shortcoming of criminology. Turn attention to the nonwestern context is a new direction for the growth of criminology.
